When you are first learning how to play drums, you can use the practice pad, a pair of drumsticks, and some foot tapping. You can learn basic beats and rhythm in this way.

Take Drum Lessons: Though you can learn drums without lessons, you can gain a lot of knowledge from someone who already knows the how to play. Drum lessons can teach you beats, and rhythm, and how to successfully use your skill in music.

You Can Form Your Own Band: Often people can gain a lot of knowledge from others, and this is also true with a band. When you are a member of a band you will get firsthand experience of turning your basic skills into professional level music.
