Purchase Calligraphy Supplies: Before you begin to learn calligraphy you will need to purchase some supplies, including calligraphy pens and ink. If you are a beginner at calligraphy, you should start out with a chisel point pen.

Relax and Have a Steady Hand: Calligraphy is an art form, and it will be necessary that you are both relaxed, and your hands are steady. If you are a little shaky it will show up in your efforts.

Get a Copy of the Uncial Alphabet: The uncial alphabet is one of the most common of all calligraphy alphabets.

Practice by Tracing: Place a thin piece of paper over the alphabet and begin tracing each letter. Do this several times until you have a good feel for the unique curves and lines of the alphabet.

Search For an Online Tutorial: To learn calligraphy, you can also search for online tutorials, which can help advance your basic calligraphy skills.

Take a Calligraphy Class: Often local junior colleges, and even some universities will offer classes in calligraphy. If you feel it would be easier for you to learn calligraphy in this way, it couldn’t hurt to check and see if there are any calligraphy classes in your area.
